Scopes Overview:

The first order is the Waveform Scope. This is a live view of audio output. It will show you analog audio levels, or the PCM waveform.

You can adjust the resolution of this scope. For example, if you play the same audio file, but at different bit depths, the waveform will adjust to accommodate the audio file’s sample-per-second rate and the computer’s internal clock. To adjust the waveform’s fidelity, select one of the following Waveform Quality Modes:

Line (Default). This setting is the most accurate. Line corresponds to AVI format. The waveform is drawn as a horizontal line. Line mode is the only quality mode that tracks the PCM waves.

Square. This setting is the least accurate, but it does appear to track the PCM waves. It corresponds to the MP3 format.

A new Row will then be shown with the selected mode.

Time Style Overview:

As with the Waveform Quality Mode, the Waveform View panel will contain the current Time Style setting for the Track. You can switch back and forth using the icon at the top-left of the panel.

If the Waveform Quality Mode is set to Line, the time scope will be in a simple linear scale. This mode is the default, and is most suitable when viewing the waveform of a PCM-compressed audio file.

Note: If the User Settings have been saved to the default file, VU-SCOPE will not allow the default settings to be overridden.

Scopes Overview:

The next row in the Vertical View Panel is the Scope header. This header row contains all the scopes for the VU-SCOPE user interface. Scopes are displayed in groups of two, which are called “columns”.

The title of each Scope will appear in the Scope’s header row. When a scope is displayed, a vertical line will appear beneath the title, indicating what type of meter, or “scope”, you are currently viewing. The vertical lines appear next to each label on the left side of the column. To show the scopes, simply double-click on a header row and the scopes will appear.

A Grouping box will also appear, and will be editable. The scopes can be assigned to the Grouping Box. Simply drag-and-drop a scope to the Grouping Box. When you drag

VU-SCOPE can be run under the graphical user interface (as a Unix port of SCOPE software) or as a command-line tool.
The command-line version makes extensive use of the X-Windows API to present the graphical user interface (GUI).
If you have access to a graphical environment such as X11, the command-line version is recommended to use.
If you do not have access to a graphical environment, the GUI version of VU-SCOPE can be used.
Each version (command-line or graphical) supports some of the available types of waveforms and parameters.

Just copy and paste. Saves me the time messing with short cuts, Keystroke Cleanup, and finding patterns when I need them.

Took me a minute to figure out what it did. Just copy the parameter you want. I did this to save some time.

What’s New In VU-SCOPE?

VU-SCOPE captures the audio output from your sound card and displays it in graphical form. The GUI is designed for Windows but runs natively on Linux and Mac, it has even been ported to the Ouya.

By default the sound output from your sound card is captured and visualized in real time. By adding scopes and compressing the data you can instantly view the output of many systems that produce no audio output from a console. As the audio data is captured and compressed
within the program, you can instantaneously view the data collected from the card at any point in time after the capture has been started.

VU-SCOPE has various graphical forms. The default screen for most scopes is a simple waveform that can be scrolled to view any specific region of the audio.
Waveforms are also displayed for sound files within the scopes, allowing easy visual comparison between sound files. I have included three scopes that can be used to view the output of the sound card. I have also provided several scopes
that display waveforms for example wave files, WAV, FLAC, MP3 and MP3 in VBR, CBR, ABR, MP3-VBR, MP3-CBR, and Ogg Vorbis files.

I have also made VU-SCOPE capable of displaying the scopes of many other programs on a target system. You can run multiple scopes at once on your system.
All scopes can have any combination of waveform, bar and needle meters for analog or digital systems. The scopes can be scaled and shown in a split-screen mode which displays all scopes on the same waveform.

VU-SCOPE has been designed as an educational tool and is simple to use. Most settings can be modified within the setup screen.
You can view all scopes for all wave, bar and needle meters on the one waveform or in split screen. You can also view WAV files directly within a scope.
You can also control a scope’s scaling and offset, you can control sample rate for midi input, and you can control the sample rate of output. All controls can be modified with menus or keyboard shortcuts.

VU-SCOPE has two major modes of operation. The default mode is to capture the output of your sound card and display a waveform in graphical form.
The second is to capture your sound card and display output from many other programs.
